Food Reaches Children in Haiti

Children eat a meal distributed by Bolivian UN peacekeepers in Cité Soleil, Haiti, after a powerful earthquake left food shortages in the area.

Global Village has been providing nutritious food to the world's poor for more than 15 years now.  Because of the vast infrastructure that is in place they were able to mobilize immediately.  On Thursday of last week, over 1 Million was shipped to Haiti via the Bahamas Red Cross in partnership with the Haitian Red Cross.

Until now, food that has been provided has been privately funded by the founder of Global Village, but now Yank Barry, Muhammad Ali and Gary US Bonds are reaching out to the public for help.  The need is overwhelming but Global Village is committed to provide ongoing food, medical supplies, and whatever the Red Cross asks of them.

Take a minute to view the video from the post below: check out the website if you wish to make a donation or find out more about what Global Village is all about.

Great, thank you sharing this article with us. Yank Barry along with his wife, Yvette, will receive the Childhelp International Achievement Award on January 10, 2015. The Barrys don’t just supply money: They are on the front lines as the charity provides aid to countries in crisis. Most recently, Yank and Yvette Barry have been focused on saving refugees from Syria, Iraq and Iran. The work by Yank Barry and Yvette Barry to help families all over the world has been featured on Reuters, CNN, Agence France France Presse, NBC News, Jerusalem Post, Globe and Mail (Canada) and many, many others.
